Congratulations to our Newly Elected Officers: Robert Vargas III, Jessica Cohen, Todd Hill, Michael Apodaca, Mo Jenkins and Jeff Strater!
While many of our affiliates act as club affiliates to their local Democratic County Party, others have adopted a more formal structure. Below is an outline od things to consider if you are starting a new club in your area:
Set up ways to communicate with your members and potential members. We suggest setting up:
A Facebook page
A Website
An Instagram profile
An X (formerly known as Twitter) account
A TikTok account
An ActBlue account to accept donations
A MyLinktree
A Threads account to communicate with people who have left X
As your club matures and more people get involved, to make the club more formal you may want to:
Create Bylaws for an unincorporated association as a Texas general-purpose political committee
Raise or spend up to $920 (triggering filing with the Texas Ethics Commission)
File an Appointment of Campaign Treasurer with the Texas Ethics Commission
Pay dues to Stonewall Democrats of Texas Caucus (currently set at $5/ member)
Obtain an Employer Identification Number (EIN) from the IRS
File IRS form 8871 and any other required IRS filings
